I am interested in studying the effects of climate change on marine ecosystems. My research at Sonoma is looking at the thermotolerance of Nereocystis luetkeana (Bull Kelp), an important foundation species to the Northern California coast line. Since 2014 California has lost over 90% of its population due to warming ocean waters.

I completed my undergraduate studies at Chico State, majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology with a minor in Sustainability. Originally I’m from the Bay Area, and I'm thrilled to be at Sonoma State to embark on this exciting journey of research and discovery in the Zippay lab. My current passion lies in environmental physiology, with a particular interest in climate change. I'm excited to delve into my research on thermal stress induced gene-expression of HSP90 during the maternal-to-zygotic transition in Purple Sea Urchins (Strongylocentrotus purpuratus), with more updates to come!
